The Living WIll ENvy The Dead
HORROR SITE-SPECIFIC AUDIO WALK LINCOLN
Artwork was live 9-10th May 2019
This collaborative site specific artwork focused on the military history of the city of Lincoln, drawing upon its potential as a nuclear blast zone during the cold war. The project used creative writing and script writing to tell stories to the listeners, taking the audience on a vastly detailed horror style audio walk around the city of Lincoln. Set in the 1960's, as the audience listened to the audio playing through headphones, a range of developed, ghostly characters guided them through a tour of the city centre, describing their surroundings as if the landscape had been destroyed through a nuclear blast, all the while recounting their individual stories of their demises. The characters included a dead girls' suicide suicide story at the sight of the mushroom cloud, as well as a survivor scavenging through the city ruins, a doctor treating blast zone patients and many more.
